Wrestlemania week
Believe it or not Mizfits this was my first time being at Wrestlemania Live. I remember as a 12 year old little Miz at 6AM trying to get through to ticketmaster to buy tickets for Mania only to get the busy signal for hours. Talk about a broken heart. This year was my redemption because not only was I going to be there but I was apart of the whole spectacle.
It all started on the Wednesday before Mania when I had an appearance at a bowling alley in Detroit. Yeah you heard right a bowling alley. It was for charity along with me was Mickie James, Tommy Dreamer, Super Crazy, and Jimmy Hart. There were about 400 people there so me being me I went to every lane and challenged the best detroit had to offer in one frame of bowling. I was actually "on" hitting strike after strike. Nobody could beat me. Probably because whenever I didn't get a strike I would psych my opponent out. I was beating adults, kids, old people, anyone that stepped up would not be taken lightly. It wasn't like I was just beating them they then would have to listen to me brag to everyone how I just dominated until this little girl came up to me and said I could beat you. I started laughing so hard I almost cried. Everyone surrounded the lane to see me kill this poor innocent girl. She went first and what did she do....a freakin strike. My laughter quickly turned to serious mode. Everyone was going nuts. I bowled and it happened I lost to a little girl. Of all the people to beat me it had to be a girl. After that I refused to play anymore. I still had a blast with all the Mizfits.
Going anywhere in Detroit was sweet because everyone was talking about Wrestlemania. People were standing outside our hotel. We had to have security walk us to the gym because we'd get swarmed by fans. It was truely an experience. Any where you went you couldn't help hearing about Wrestlemania.
On Friday they held the biggest movie premiere ever for Stone Cold Steve Austin's "The Condemned." Imagine walking into a room with about 3000 fans chanting, screaming, it was quite the scene. When the movie started and Stone Cold hit the screen fans went nuts. The movie was very graphic and I really enjoyed it. The action kept the movie going along with comedic parts so the movie never slowed down. After the screening the glass broke and Stone Cold's Music hit. Talk about a cool feeling listening to the fans erupt when he came out to talk. Some day I hope to get to that level.
Saturday I had an autograph signing in the morning then it was off to the Hall of Fame Ceremony. WWE's Hall of Fame Cermonies are very formal events paying respect to the men that paved the way for me to do what I love. I liked seeing all the hall of famers talk and be remembered. My favorite part had to be when Dusty Rhodes came out. He embodies cool and it was true Dusty when he arrived. Dancing and talking and keeping everyone entertained the entire time he was up there.
Sunday was Wrestlemania 23 and we had to be up and ready by 10AM. It was going to be a long day but I could care less this was what I've been waiting for all year. I wasn't on the card but I was going to be a lumberjack for the opening dark match. Some people say "I'm pissed I'm not on the show" I was happy to be there and walking out in front of 80,000 people. How many people get to say that? The day went by pretty fast. I met Donald Trump backstage and talked to him for a bit about some of the people I worked with from his show. I must say I kinda wish he got his head shaved because his hair looks worse in person then it does on TV. I also got to meet Rev Run from Run DMC. I actually met him before on The Real World when we worked for Arista Records. He was with his kids who were so excited to meet the WWE superstars. Before I knew it it was time to go out for the lumberjack match. I really didn't know what to expect. I've never been in front of 80,000 people. As I walked out I took a moment to take it all in. I wanted to remember this. It was like a sea of people booing and cheering. It was so surreal. It motivated me to step up my game so that next year they have to put me on the card. It was truely an eye opener. After the match I showered and went up to the press box where I watched the entire show. And what a show it was. My first Wrestlemania was amazing and you better believe this year The Miz will be making a statement. So until next time be Good. Be Bad. BE MIZ!!!! HOO RAH!!!!
