4th of July 2004
Well this year was a little hectic because I really didn't know where I wanted to go. I could've either went to Lake Havasu or San Diego. Ricky called me up Friday night and said there was a really good party going on in San Diego so I said I'd go there. Also my friend Tom came in from Chi-town and he was going to be down there along with David RWBoston, Katie RR10, Blair RR10, and a bunch of other friends so I was pretty excited. Five of us piled into my Ford Explorer Sport and drove the two hour drive down to San Diego. We slept on the floor of one of Ricky's friends. I don't mind sleeping on floors but when there's 6 people on the floor in a tiny studio apt. that's when sleep doesn't happen. I finally went to sleep for about an hour then woke up to my hip aching. Kimmy came back and brought bagels and cream cheese when her and Ali went and had a nice big breakfast. Now this was a nice jesture but anyone that knows me knows I eat a lot and a bagel is not going to tip my hunger so I gave them sh@t for the rest of the day. Yes I'm an ungrateful bastard. :)
After we ate our huge breakfast of bagels we went to the house where the party was. Okay here's the bad a$$ part the house was right on the beach so of course we went right to the beach and hung out. It was great, there was a volleyball net where we played a bunch of games. I mean, come on this is what the 4th is all about. Being with a bunch of friends on a beach, sunny as hell, drinks, food, and volleyball you just can't beat it. Ricky and I got 2 2liters and dumped half of it out and poured rum in them so you could say this was going to be an interesting day.
After the beach we went up to the top of the house where there was a great porch where we hung out and chit chatted. Katie started going off on the people she hated which always makes for a great site. Blair was instigating which was absolutely hilarious. It was a really great time.
Night time comes and I must say the fireworks display in San Diego is amazing. For the past two years I haven't gotten to see a fireworks display. Last year I was in New Port and the damn thing got cancelled. The year before, I just moved to LA and I thought since I live right by the beach in Santa Monica that they'd have a nice fireworks display. Well, they didn't. So this was my first display in 2 years so you could say I was pretty excited about it. Not only was the display good, there was two of them. They were an hour apart. I personally liked the second one better the finale was amazing. I love the 4th.
We were pretty tired after the second fireworks display was done because of being in the sun all day. Is it me or is there no one out after 11:30 on the 4th. It seems like everyone passes out right after the fireworks goes off or they're at a house party but the bars seemed to be pretty empty. Is that me or just the places I go to. I know I didn't feel like going to a bar after being out in the sun all day. I was burned. Hell I'm peeling right now because of it. Well after the fireworks we drove home and no nobody drove drunk. Luckily Kimmy doesn't drink so she drove the dreaded 2 hour drive with 6 people in the car this time. It was a tight fit but we made it in one peice.
Thanks to David and all of his boys from Boston for making it such a good time. The house party rocked.
