Concerts...

March 2008

Taste of Chaos Tour: Bullet for my Valentine, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold - I’ve been wanting to see Bullet for my Valentine ever since I bought The Poison CD in Europe while on a WWE European tour. This was about 8 months ago and I still have not put The Poison or Scream Ready Aim down. So when I heard they were doing a United States tour I had to find out when they’d be in my area. Seeing that I travel so much it’s hard to see my favorite bands these days. Lucky for me they were going to be in Orlando, Fl the same time I was going to be there for Wrestlemania. It was perfect.

Then the Tuesday before I was going to be in Orlando I got news that I had an appearance the same day and time as the concert. Granted I love appearances but talk about bad timing. So I went on Bullet’s Myspace and tried to figure out if they were anywhere near where I was going to be on any other days. They were in Long Beach, CA the same time I was going to be in Europe so that was a No and they were in Tampa, Fl the day before which sucked. I saw that the day I was leaving for Orlando, which was a Wednesday, the tour would be in Miami, Fl. Miami is about 4 hours from Orlando and I was landing in Orlando at 5. I tried calling everywhere to find out the set times of the bands so I wouldn’t miss them. Couldn’t find anyone who knew but they did say they had to be done by 11. I thought if I was down their by 830 there was no way i’d miss them.

So I got off the flight, got my rental car, and sped down to Miami by myself just to see Bullet for my Valentine. How spontaneous am I? Now Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold were on the card as well which I thought cool but Bullet is who I wanted to see. So 4 hours later it was 845 I thought there’s no way I missed them. Driving up I could hear the bands playing and it didn’t sound like Bullet so I thought I’m in. Got to Will Call and they told me I just missed them. I swear my stomach sank and instantly ruined my good mood. How much does this suck? I said screw it and went in and saw Atreyu whom I’ve only heard one song. The fans seemed to like them but I just wasn’t in the mood. Avenged came on and I have to say they really impressed me. Musically, they were at the top of their game. I liked them better live then on their CD. I did feel the guitarists and the singer were fighting for all the attention. The singer was amazing as well as the guitarists. They were srheading together. One was left handed and the other right so it was a really cool visual.

I left the concert early, being the dad, wanting to beat traffic out plus I had a 4 hour drive home. The story doesn’t end there.

One of my friends was working with Rockstar and she said that on Friday in Orlando Bullet would be going on at 7 which meant I could see them because my appearance wasn’t till 9.

Friday came I went with the Rockstar people and got to see my favorite band for the first time. They were amazing. They reminded me of a young Metallica. Hell, the singer and guitarist both had cut off T’s of Metallica. Even though they were awesome they didn’t play half the songs I wanted to hear. Not even "All these things I hate" which is one of their most popular songs. They kinda stuck to all the heavy stuff. I really wanted to hear The End, Curses, Heart Bursts into Fire, and Forever and Always. I wish they could of played an hour set. It’s almost like I want to see them again to hear the songs I didn’t get to see. Have you ever went to a concert and the band doesn’t play the song you wanted to hear. Kinda pisses you off doesn’t it. But it’s all good they’re awesome.

So after a 4 hour drive to Miami missing them and driving back really pissed everything seemed to work out. I have never done so much work to see a band. It’s amazing what people will do to see someone play. Definatley see this concert all the bands are very talented. Thanks for the Rockstar peps for the hookup.

Kill Hannah and Flyleaf - I've been waiting for this concert to come to LA for awhile now. I've seen Flyleaf before and they were impressive. The only thing was when I saw them they weren't as popular as they are now. I didn't have as much fun as I could have because I always feel a crowd can help make a concert and when there's only 100 people in a place it doesn't seem to pop as much. It's not the band's fault it's the way it is.

As for Kill Hannah they are arguably my favorite band at this moment. So you can only imagine how ready I was to see them. I miss going to concerts and I say this every time I write a concert review. There's something about LA or the group I hang out with here none of them like alt. rock so I normally struggle finding peps to go with. I remember back in Parma where my friends and I went to 3 concerts a week and would be in every mosh pit. It was insane and we had a blast now all those friends are married. Yeah I said it... MARRIED. So now there's just me. I could care less because I still love concerts.

I got to House of Blues and I must say I love this concert hall it's not too big or too small. It's just about perfect for a venue. As I arrived I got complete access to anywhere I wanted to go, thanks Ricky, even the green rooms where the bands hang out. The only thing is I didn't know any of them personally so there was no way I was going to bother them or go into their room and hang when I didn't know anybody. Woulda been cool to meet them though.

Kill Hannah came on with lights all over their instruments which was bad ass. I've never seen that before. They started off with Boys and Girls and f*cking rocked the place from then on. My favorite songs are The Chase which I can't find anywhere besides myspace which sucks cause I want it on my ipod. Does anyone know where you can get it? Also I like I wanna be a Kennedy which they played last. I have to say this was one of my favorite concerts and Kill Hannah did not dissappoint if anything they made me like them more. Have you ever had a band where they sound terrible in concert but their CD is great. I hate that or the singer can't hit the notes he/she hits in the cd. Well Kill Hannah tore it up and sounded better than their CD. I wanted the live CD.

I have to say this Kill Hannah isn't a mosh pitting kind of band. I would look down because I was on the balcony and everyone would be jumping up and down singing along with no mosh pits. Rare that I see that but I could understand why. They aren't really a kill everyone kind of band. It's the type of music you can just rock to.

On to Flyleaf talk about a change for the better. I remember the girl singer before and she looked nothing like she did at House of Blues. Last time I saw her she had long hair and didn't really have any style nothing special appearance wise. Granted she was a great performer. I saw her on stage and couldn't believe it. She had this little punky haircut that looked very sexy and she just looked like a rockstar. Amazing what a year can do huh? Not only that their performance as a whole go better. She didn't stop after every song and tell me a long story. I mean the stories were cool they just messed with the flow of the concert. I love seeing bands before they were big. I remember seeing Flyleaf right when I'm so Sick came out in Cinncinatti, OH with maybe 100 people in this crappy concert hall. They were good then but boy did they improve. Now they look like rockstars, play like rockstars, in front of a couple thousand people at the House of Blues.

Kudos to them for working hard and I hope to see them in a year even bigger than this time.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus- I've been wanting to see RJA for awhile. I really wanted to see them play Atrophy and Guardian Angel live so when I found out they were going to be at the House of Blue in LA I had to go. I feel like since i've lived in LA I haven't been going to concerts like I used to. When I was in Cleveland my friends and I went to concerts every week. It was so much fun. Nowadays, I don't know if I grown out of them or if it's just that I don't have that group of friends. Any ways, I got to the concert and Emery was performing. I've never heard of them but they really rocked the place. Their keyboardist was insane. Red Jumpsuit got on and they are the type of band that's good live my only problem was I really wanted to hear the singer hit the notes he hit on the CD. However, at those parts he put the mic to the crowd. The singer did that a lot I'm not a big fan of that. I came to hear him hit the notes not the audience. I get it though it's cool to hear the everyone sing it but he was doing it for almost every song. Maybe his voice was shot or something I don't know. The best song they played was definately Atrophy it was amazing. The pit was small. I wasn't even motivated to go in it. Probably because lately every time I go to a concert it's a bunch of kids and I guess I don't feel right being the older guy in a pit pushing kids around. :) I guess I will wait for Disturbed or Ozzfest for that. All in all I would go see RJA again they were really good and I'd want to see if they get better with time.

4-7-06

Flyleaf- I heard their new single "I'm so sick" on the radio and instantly said I had to see this band live. So I went home that day and found out that they were playing 2 hours away. Being the random guy I am I decided to go even though I only heard one song and just found out about the band that day. I get to the concert and was a little disappointed with the turnout. There was like 150 people in a venue that could easily hold 700. I'm a big believer that you could go see a great band and if the crowd isn't there it could totally ruin it. That's exactly what happened here. This band was really good live. I mean they got into their songs, the little girl singer had a great voice and amazing stories behind all of them but the vibe you get at a show wasn't there. I feel when this band gets really big or plays with a bigger band that'll draw more people this concert would be bad ass. Another thing I didn't like was their hit song, the only song I knew, they played it 5th. So I was like well I heard the song I wanted to hear so after a couple more songs I left. How can you play the only song on the radio 5th? I don't know but to their credit they played a long set. I'm telling you look out for this band I don't see them as a one hit wonder they have staying power in my opinion and when they are with a bigger band definately check them out they are good live.
Concert rating-3 if their was a bigger crowd the rating would've been higher CD rating-NA Mosh Pit-NA

Disturbed-I'm not sure if I told you all about how I actually met Disturbed. It was really cool. I was going to this event and saw them leaving. As I was walking by the guitarist recognized me and said what's up. The funny part was I saw them from a far and I didn't really know what to do because I wanted to say something but I'm not good with breaking the ice with my favorite band. Luckily they did it for me. I ended up talking to them for a bit which was bad ass in my book. They told me that any time they were in my area that they'd hook me up for their concerts. I thought no way would they remember me. So I called their guitarist, Dan, thinking there's no way he'd remember me. I left a message and it didn't take an hour before I got a call back asking how I was, that I had to come to the concert. I'm talking really nice. So I went to the concert which as always was amazing. I'm in Louisville now so it's definately not like a cleveland concert. I don't know what it is but it seemed like Cleveland is a lot rowdier because when I was at the concert in Louisville the first song started and there wasn't one mosh pit. In Cleveland people would've been flying everywhere. So the Clevelander that I am I tried to start a mosh pit. It was weak but it got it going and finally there was a pretty good pit going. The concert rocked. Any time you are at a Disturbed concert you can't go wrong. The crowd is fun, the band gets into it, and the songs sound better than the CD. After the concert I realized I lost my cell phone which sucked. I hate when that happens. Any ways I went back to the bus's because they hooked me up with backstage pass's. I felt like Wayne and Garth at the Alice Cooper concert. I got on the bus and hung out for a bit. They were trying to locate my phone and we actually found it. I must say these guy's not only can play one hell of a concert but they are really cool as well. Thanks to Disturbed especially Dan for hooking me up.
Concert rating-5 CD rating-5 Mosh Pit-3 I think it was just Louisville to be honest.

Trapt-Two concerts in two months damn Im doing good. I honestly feel like Im getting old or something because once again it was a pretty young crowd. Is the music that I love only for the young generation or something. Either way I could care less because I will always be a fan of any kind of metal. Ive been waiting to see Trapt ever since I heard Headstrong. I wanted to observe a mosh pit and I finally had the opportunity. Trapt started off with a bang and never quit. Even songs I never heard before I got into and thats hard for me to do. Have you ever been to a concert where you only knew like one song and you wait for it the entire concert not really caring about the other songs. Yeah Ive been there too. Lucky for me that wasnt this concert. The singer was so entertaining. He really got into the music. Im not a big fan of singers that just stand behind the mic and sing. I like it when the shit hits the fan and everyone goes nuts. As soon as Stand Up came on the place went ballistic. I got goose bumps. I love it when you can really feel a song. After stand up Trapt left and waited for an anchor. Heres what I dont get why the hell do bands do an anchor. We know Headstrong was coming up and that you really werent leaving how about save us the 10 minutes and just play the damn song. Sorry Im just not a fan of anchors unless the band is huge and has so many hits that you dont know if they are going to come back on. To my surprise the pit was heavier to Stand Up than Headstrong. Well, to be completely honest the pit was weaker than I anticipated. I thought it would at least have a couple drunk guys and an entire football team but it didnt. I think the biggest guy was about a buck eighty. Hell, I didnt even go in. I hate when these big guys go in their and think they are tough because they are pushing around 17 year olds who are 175. I like to wait for Slipknot type pits where you really dont know whats going to happen. All in all I have to say I was impressed with Trapt and Id recommend anyone going to the concert. You could even bring a date they have enough slow songs that its safe for them and youll still have a good time.

My Chemical Romance-It only took me a year to go see another concert. Actually I've seen a couple concerts but I don't consider them concerts because when I lived in LA bands would do concerts for special events. I don't rate those because I like tours. When a bands on tour those are the best concerts to go to because they have all the pyro and actually put on a show. I really feel now that I live in Atl I'll be going to a lot more concerts. I don't know what it was about LA but I just didn't find myself going probably because none of my friends liked metal. I've been meeting some peps out here that are into the music that I'm into so I'll be posting these more. A girl I met at another concert, Dark New Day, hooked me up with some pit tickets on my birthday. Talk about nice right. Thanks Cat and Stacy for the hook up. I only knew two songs from MCR. I know how shi##y, right. I only know the commercial songs, sorry but I knew I'd like them because I enjoy their music videos. I know if a band has good presence in a video then their onstage performance has to be good. While driving down my friend Mark had the CD so I could check out the entire CD before seeing them. I hate going to concerts and not knowing the songs. I really liked The Ghost of Me. That songs the shi$. We get their and go to the pit because it's the only place to be when you go to a concert. The only problem was I felt really old at the concert and very big. I'm basically saying their were a lot of underagers their and I'm not used to that. It was almost like in the years I haven't been going the genre of my kind of music has went really young. Not that their's anything wrong with it. It's just different for me. I looked at the pit in a whole new light...I couldn't play hard. MCR came on and they blew the house away. Even the songs I didn't know I found myself jumping up and down. The mosh pit was very lite. Here was one thing I noticed that I can't stand. I don't like when you know a crowd is young and small and two big guys try to ruin the pit for everyone else. I mean come on this isn't Pantera it's almost like pit bullies. Those guys that you know if they were at a Pantera concert wouldn't dare to come in but since it's MCR they want to own it and not let anyone else play. I saw two kids doing that and they almost got into a fight with a kid half their size. By the time I was around I didn't see them anymore. As for me I went in and let everyone push me around. Sometimes that's more fun. I must say I really enjoyed this concert and I'd recommend it to everyone. If you have a gf bring her. No danger whatsoever just good fun. After the concert I went backstage and talked to the drummer and singer. They were really down to earth and cool. It's funny I always imagine backstage to have hot girls, alcohol, and basically one big party but not this time. They were actually getting ready to do an autograph signing. Taking the time for the people that support you instead of partying that's pretty cool in my book.

B-52's-What happened to me? I used to go to nothing but metal concerts. However who doesn't love Love Shack, Roam, or Rock Lopster and anyway it was a free concert. The Geek Squad put on a party in LA and Kimmy got invited so I was her +1. It's really wierd how good parties are in LA. First off they're really hard to get in and they always have cool bands playing. I was really excited because I remembered watching them play back when I was a kid and I never thought I'd see them in concert. The party wasn't that great. Yeah there was free food and drinks but nothing really exciting till the B-52's came on. I went nuts and for how old they are they put on a really entertaining concert. By entertaining I mean they're dance moves are so 1970's beach party. So, of course everyone in the audience mimicked those moves. I only knew three songs so I waited to go absolutely nuts for them but of course being at a Geek Squad party some nerd let a stink bomb off. What a dork huh? And it wasn't just one. Their were a couple. Some people left the dance floor but no smell could take me away from these old schoolers. I really didn't like any of the songs I didn't know but when Love Shack and Rock Lopster came on I went absolutely nuts. Singing all the words and doing every dance move my dad's showed me. You know all those 70's moves. By the end I had a great sweat and was really happy I got to see them.

The Dan Band-I know....I know. I don't go to too many concerts anymore. I don't know what happened as soon as I moved to LA I really didn't have anyone to go with who liked the same music as I did. But hey I went to see the Dan Band again and they're getting better and better. If you don't know who The Dan Band is rent Old School and their the band singing at the wedding. They're absolutely hilarious and I'd recommend everyone to see them. They're whole production is amazing. Their was no pit. They actually have tables and it's more of a show.

Prom Kings- This was my second time seeing the Prom Kings and I always leave wanting more. These guys are really good. I see a lot of concerts and there are 3 bands that I think should have contracts and don't and Prom Kings are one of them. They have a metal mix type thing going and are really fun to watch on stage. I saw them at the Dragonfly in LA. Dragonfly is a pretty cool venue. I really like the small intimate settings more than the huge stadiums. I hate when bands get really big and you have to see them in Arenas where the band look like ants. If you're like me I would recommend seeing the Prom Kings before they hit it big because in my opinion they will sooner or later.
Concert rating- 4 CD rating- NA Pit-o-meter- 1

The Dan Band- Has anyone seen Old School? If you have you've seen The Dan Band, they are the band swearing in the wedding songs at Will Ferrell's wedding. Anyway I went to see them at The Highlands last Friday and as soon as I walk in, who do I see Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray, Jerry O' Connell, Tom Green, and Donilia from E! News Live. This band was way more popular than I thought, I mean the place was packed. I guess they have a cult following and I could understand why. They are so hilarious. I mean every time one of my friends comes into town I want to take them to go see The Dan Band. The funny part is they only play girl cover songs and they have little dances for all of them. Not one of their songs was original but the way they replayed those covers was the funniest thing I've ever seen. If you have a chance I definitely recommend seeing The Dan Band. From beginning to end Dan entertains you with either talking to the audience or singing a romantic song and putting swear words in the middle of it or having his back up singers do dances. The experience is so hard to explain you have to see it for yourself. It's a must see concert. I'm going to see it again and again.

I haven't been to a concert in awhile. I don't know what it is about LA but I just don't hear about them plus I don't have a group of friends to go with out here. Concerts are so much more fun when you go with a group of buddies. I guess people don't like metal in LA unless you are already a rock star.

1-7-02

Cold- I went to the cold concert on Thanksgiving. I really like how the lead singer holds the mic. It's different. They're actually pretty good in concert. I like two of their songs but I don't have the CD yet so I can't really rate it.
Concert rating- 3 CD rating- NA Pit-o-meter- 1

Dope- I saw them with Cold. I got there right when they were going on which pissed me off because I missed the opening act, Flaw, who I've wanted to see for a while. The singer works with crowd and knows how to get the party started. Their old CD is tight; I haven't gotten the new one yet.
Concert rating- 3 CD rating- old 3 Pit-o-meter- 2

A Not So Silent Night

Featuring Hoobastank , Pressure 4-5, Adema, Sum 41, 311, and Blink 182

I didn't get to see Hoobastank or Pressure 4-5, which pissed me off because I really like both singles that are out right now. I met Markku from Hoobastank and he was really cool.

Adema-They improve their live performance every time I see them. They rocked the house. I finally got to hang out with them and the guys are really cool. They let me go on stage and watch them. It was a cool experience. It's amazing to see all the people there having fun. Their CD is a good one they just released their second single and it's doing well on radio stations.
Concert rating- 3 CD rating- 4 Pit-o-meter- 2

Sum 41- These kids rock in concert. They had a girl come on stage and strip. They look like they are out to have a good time and that's what it's all about. The crowd was into them. I haven't bought the CD but the songs on the radio are tight.
Concert rating- 4 CD rating- NA Pit-o-meter- 1

311- These guys are great at everything: from getting the crowd into it to rocking the place. They've been in the business for along time so they should know how to put on a show. I'm a big 311 fan, even though in the song "Down" the lyrics read, "when that whack show real world is on." The CD's are awesome get them all. My favorite is the self-titled.
Concert rating- 4 CD rating- 5 CD-2

Blink 182- This three-piece band has so many singles that it's kind of hard to have a bad concert. Plus the comedy they bring to the stage always works well. The fans seemed satisfied with everything these guys did. Their CD is good.
Concert rating- 4 CD rating- 4 Pit-o-meter- 1

The concert as whole was awesome. The audience was younger. Not a good place to start a hardcore mosh pit; more for listening and singing to good music performances.

Mushroomhead-These guys are the best. Now that they are with Universal finally everyone will get the chance to listen to some Cleveland metal. Their fan base is the best I've seen. The new CD is tight. It has all of their best songs put in one CD. I did a radio show with them and the guys I met were genuinely nice. They have a good attitude about music and will be around for a while. If you watched MTV's New Year's party I was wearing a Mushroomhead shirt. Got to support Cleveland metal.
Concert rating -5 CD rating- 5 Pit-o-meter- 5

Runt- I saw them with Mushroomhead. They remind me of Pantera. They are hard and get the place moshing. It's a hard pit, so leave your panties at home. I haven't got their CD yet.
Concert rating -3 CD rating- NA Pit-o-meter- 4

2001 From Zero- I’ve seen them 5 times now and to be honest they keep getting better live. Jett, the lead singer really knows how to get the crowd hyped. Basically if you weren’t a From Zero fan before you see them you will be when you leave. Their CD One Nation Under is one of those CD’s you can listen from start to finish and not have to skip asong.
Concert rating- 5 CD rating- 5 Pit-o-meter- 1

Adema- I saw Adema with Mushroomhead and Runt. They seemed very new together onstage and I wasn’t really impressed. I think in time they will get more experience and make their live shows better. The CD ”Adema” on the other hand is amazing. They seem to be a mix of Korn and Orgy with twist.
Concert rating- 2 CD rating- 4 Pit-o-meter- 1

Mushroomhead- Basically rocks the house. This Cleveland powerhouse is the best concert I’ve ever been to. They were so original with everything from getting the crowd involved to putting on a great performance. Coming to this concert I didn’t even know who these guys were so for me to say it’s the best concert ever means a lot. They had a stripper stripping on stage while the concert was going on. Plus the entire place was one big pit the entire time and at the end the girl fans got on stage and stripped as well. I guess it’s a Mushroomhead thing, but I wasn’t complaining. There’s a big feud with Slipknot and them about who were the original mask wearers. On the CD, let’s just put it like this they are a lot better in concert then on CD.
Concert rating- 5 CD rating- 2 Pit-o-meter- 5

Insane Clown Possee- You become an instant Juggalo after a concert because no one leaves without becoming a fan or respecting their live performance. Please do not wear good cloths because you will be doused with Faygo pop the entire time and you’ll love it. If you want to get psycho one night this is the concert to go to. Just paint your face and go. They have had many CD’s and they are so funny you gotta get at least one.
Concert rating- 5 CD rating-4 Pit-o-meter- 2

Taproot- One of my favorites to see in concert. Steve the singer usually goes into the crowd with a stage dive then goes into the mosh pit all while singing. Sometimes he will even walk around the entire audience singing. They are very original and one of the best live shows that I’ve seen. You will always see me at a Taproot concert whenever they are in my area. For me their music gets under your skin and brings out emotions you didn’t know you even had. The CD ”The Gift” is one that once you get used to it you can’t stop playing it.
Concert rating- 5 CD rating- 3 Pit-o-meter- 3

Staind- This concert is a hard one to rate because Aaron Lewis has his eyes closed the entire time and looks like he’s going to cry onstage. He seems to get really emotional while singing. I just think Aaron Lewis doesn;t get the crowd into the performance. The guitar player is very good and gets really into the music. The CD on the other hand is very good. I do like Dysfunction better because its harder but Break the Cycle seems to have more feeling.
Concert rating-2 CD rating- 5 Pit-o-meter- 1

Linkin Park- I’ve seen these guys many times and every time I see them I want to see more. They are very diverse with their music. What I mean by that is they can play with any band metal, rap, reggae, whatever and that audience will love and respect them. They are a must see. There CD is one of my favorites you can’t get enough of it.
Concert rating- 5 CD rating- 5 pit-o-meter- 3

Drowning Pool- LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR. How can you not love that song and in concert its even better. The CD ”Sinner” is great. I see them as the new up and coming metal band.
Concert rating- 4 CD rating-4 pit-o-meter- 4

Mudvayne- As soon as they hit the stage everyone’s eye’s are drawn to the stage because of the freaky face paint put on by the band. It doesn’t stop there, it just gets better. The music brings out every ounce of adrainalin you have. The CD is hardcore and congrats to them for winning The MTV2 viewers choice award.
Concert rating- 4 CD rating- 3 pit-o-meter-4

Kid Rock- Great entertainer. He walks out like a pimp and ends by playing every instrument without missing a note during the change of the piece. He is definitely due for another CD soon I can’t wait.
Concertrating- 5 CD rating-4 Pit-o-meter- 3

Papa Roach- Coby Dick is crazy on stage and the guitar and bassist are in sync with each others head bang. How sweet is that? They are a great band to watch as well as mosh. The CD is very good, but I’m ready for the new one to come out next year.
Concert rating-4 CD rating- 3 pit-o-meter- 3

Crazy Town- They were put on the wrong roster this year. I think they are too light for Ozzfest and would have been better on another tour because they are good. There CD is off the hook.
Concert rating- 3 CD rating- 3 pit-o-meter- 1

Disturbed- At first I didn’t think they were that good but when I saw them at this year’s Ozzfest they totally did a 360 on me. They were honestly the best concert at ozzfest to see. When they covered Pantera’s ”Walk” I was in heaven. The place erupted when they went on stage. Their CD is hardcore and pure metal.
Concert rating-4 CD rating- 5 pit-o-meter- 4

Godsmack- They know how to put on a show. They give you something extra, not just what’s on the CD’s. They go into solo’s with drums and guitars that make your headspin. Their concerts are bad a$$. I thought their first CD was good but they out did themselves with this CD.
Concert Rating- 4 CD rating-4 Pit-o-meter- 3

Union Underground- The bass is really heavy at this concert sometimes it over powers the singers voice but you can definitely feel the music. Â They really know how to put on a good show. I was very impressed. So come on come on get up get up get up, buy the CD you’ll understand. The CD is really good as well.

Alien Ant Farm- I never seen a Michael Jackson move in a mosh pit until I came to this concert. The bassist is really good on stage; he does a thing with his eye brows that’s pretty sweet. They were new when I saw them but still put on an OK show. The CD is pretty good.

Marilyn Manson- You always wonder what is going to happen next and your eyes are glued to the stage. Then you are in shock at what happens. Go see it and you’ll understand. It’s Manson of course the CD’s good.

Slipknot- When Spit came on the place literally erupted. I mean the entire Ozzfest was a mosh pit. I couldn’t believe it and the pyrotechnics were great. Sometimes I think there’s too many of them but I guess that’s what makes them great. The new CD is good but I like the first one better.

Pantera- These guys put the ME in METAl. They are the best in hardcore. No one can come close. I think they’ve had a influence in every metal band today. I think the CD’s went slightly downhill after Far beyond driven, but that doesn’t matter it’s Pantera.

Metal as a Weapon Tour 2001

This concert has a really one of the best line ups featuring: Systematic, Stereomud, Adema, Drowning Pool, and Disturbed. The only thing that sucked about it was by the time Drowning Pool came on I was so tired from moshing to the first 3 bands. All the bands put on great concerts and each one had a different spice to them. This concert is definitely worth the money. Get there early Systematic is an up and coming band. You gotta check them out.

Pledge of Allegiance Tour 2001

Slipknot was amazing you always wonder what they are going to do next. Their drum solo reminded me of Tommy Lee back in the day; tight as hell. It was just mayhem in the pit. This concert produced the biggest circle pit I’ve ever been apart of. System of a Down was ok, but I’m not a big fan of them so I really can’t judge. Rammstein had so much pyrotechnics that I wanted to watch the show rather then mosh. American Head Charge was bizarre but I really like their single A Violent Reaction. I didn’t show up in time for No One but I did hear they were good. The price for the tickets are pretty high, enough to wait till these bands are on cheaper tours.

December 2003 CD of the month

Mushroomhead- 13 - Anyone that knows me, knows I'm a big Mushroomhead fan. These guys not only have great CD's but their concerts are untouchable. If you live in Cleveland and like metal odds are you are a big Mushroomhead fan. I swear all of their concerts in the Cleveland area are always sold out. They are amazing live. Go see them if you have a chance, just watch the mosh pits. They're a 5 on my scale. The new CD is really good. I feel like it's a little lighter and commercial but it's still Mushroomhead. My favorite song is definately Sun Doesn't Rise. I also like 13, if you wait till 5 min. 30 sec. you'll here a cover song redone with perfection. If you like metal get this CD. People ask me whose my favorite band, Mushroomhead.

November 2003 CD of the month

Like I said before I haven't bought a CD in awhile because of MP3's. So here's what I'm listening to right now. I just got back from Mexico so I put a little Mexican spice to it.

Kabah- Big Brother 2 and Al Pasa - This is a spanish language band but I love it. They are boy bandish but the riffs are catchy.
Yellowcard- Way Away - I'm addicted to this song. I play it again and again. You'll understand why in a couple months.
Benny Benassi- Satisfaction - A little Techno. I swear that is all Mexico plays in clubs and this is the song that stood out.

July CD of the month

Ross Golan and Molehead- Reagan Baby- Ross is a musical genious. He's just coming out and you probably haven't heard of him but you will in the next couple of months. He actually wrote, played, and produced The Miz's theme song in a week. No joke, he told me he wanted to do it. I said sure, I told him about The Miz and who he is and he's like okay. A week later the song is done and amazing. I love this CD, eventhough he has a different sound then anyone i've ever heard, he's a cross between Sublime and 311 but that doesn't even describe how incredible his music is. I've never been so excited for a CD. He says his music derives from hip hop but I must say he puts his own form into it. Get this CD when it comes out. It's a must buy.

June CD of the month

Since I haven't bought a CD since I got my DSL and am in love with the MP3's, kiss my ass haters of MP3's, I haven't bought a CD so here's the songs I've been listening to.

Deftones- Minerva
Staind- Pay To Play
Motley Crew- Dr. Feelgood I was the biggest 80's hair band fan and still am.

April CD of the month

So I just got DSL so I've been downloading a lot of songs and making CDs. I love it so this month I'm going to give you a couple of songs I'm really digging.

Trapt- Headstrong
3 Doors Down- When I'm Gone
AFI- The Leaving Song Pt. 2

Check these songs out and let me know what you think

March CD of the month

Saliva- Back into your System- This CD is really good. I've been listening to it for awhile and would recommend it to anyone who likes Nu Metal. Even though it's a little softer than the first one I think they blended heavy with soft and made some great songs especially song number 7. I will be honest Back into you System is not one of those CDs you can just play all the way through but for the most part it's a good CD and has been in my CD player nonstop for the past 2 weeks.

February CD of the month

T.a.T.u.- 200 KM/H in the Wrong Lane- I know I know they aren't rock but that CD is awesome plus you can't go wrong with the video of "All the things you said." Two 17 year old girls in school girl outfits, in the rain, making out, you have a hit in my book. :) Then their involvement with WWE's, Victoria's entrance music. They have a remix of How soon is now? That's great. This CD is worth every penny. It gets a 5 out of 5 on my meter. It's more dance music and kind of poppy so if you don't like that you may want to borrow it and see if you like it. But I highly recommend it.
